I began my deep admiration for all animals as did my 3 sisters very early on . From raising injured baby squirrels or abandoned woodchucks or even trying to fix the broken wing on a bluejay.
Because my two sisters had severe asthma we were not allowed a dog until I was about 10.My father agreed to get a puppy,a german shorthaired pointer we named Duke. All four of us were smitten with the pup and we were off to many promising adventures together. We trained Duke to do all sorts of tricks for fun. We eventually taught him to not only ride a horse but to fly a kite all by himself. He tolerated being dressed up in our Catholic school uniforms and many other odd wardrobe items.
I met my dear friend Brenda in high school and with our love of dogs and horses we were off. Whenever we had time off from our husbands and being parents we were teaching not only ourselves, but each other all we knew through dog shows, training classes, or professional grooming. We loved the wonderous world of Golden Retrievers. 20 plus years of raising golden retriever puppies together brought us to a new high point.
We were finding that we needed a change, something our puppy families were looking for and we ourselves were looking for ,--a smaller ,less shedding ,yet healthy ,and of course beautiful and very smart dog, we knew it had to be the Goldendoodle, but not the large oversized little ponies we were seeing, .
So off on to another quest we went, we finally found the perfect sires. 3 long years later we had 2 brothers,Beauregard and Peyton, small standard poodles .They weigh in at around the 25 pound weight range.
Together Brenda and I have had a combined total 55 years experience of grooming , training ,and conformation shows and attending seminars on the rearing and raising of healthy and balanced pets.
Having our children and grandchildren involved in the day to day activities of raising and caring for puppies has been a joy to both our families.
****** Visitors*-- Before visiting here, or with anyones puppies understand that cross contamination from litter to litter can occur . Some diseases can be potentially devastatingly life threatening- even fatal ! Please understand -- for all visitors- precautions should/must be met when visiting anyone's property with young puppies, whether here at my home or elsewhere. Thank you.
We request that until our puppies have completed their 'series of puppy vaccinations',usually a total of three boosters,if not 4, that the puppy remains on your property without coming into contact with other puppies or even other animals until these important immunizations are completed. This does not include other medications such as lyme ,or kennel cough.Your vet may have other medication recommendations, but again the 'puppy booster shots' are meant to protect them.
Note- Before you take home a puppy from us you must agree to this protocol! It is meant to keep your puppy healthy. This means that until they are 14 to 16 weeks of age they cannot attend any puppy classes or go near a dog park or walking trail. Keep them home and let them get used to their new surroundings and schedule.
